About Me

My photo
Erica Robert Pallo
At 11, I traveled by car for two months with my grandparents through 28 states, Canada & Mexico, which awakened a travel bug & my adventuring spirit. I have since added almost all of the other states; long trips through France, Scotland, and England; a semester abroad in Costa Rica where I volunteered in the mountains near an active volcano & traveled all over the country, then to Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, & Guatemala; time in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I lived & traveled around the north of the country; visits to Uruguay & Bolivia; & and a month-long backpacking excursion along the entire Brazilian Atlantic coast until I landed in the beach-side, colonial town of Paraty (or Parati) in southwestern Brazil. I have seen time & again how food unites people even when only charades & a smile is the singular means of communication between them. I want to explore these ideas, how they inspired my academic research interests, & continue to shape my future endeavors. What started in Latin America has migrated back into the US & now will venture beyond these borders into more, further-away, international waters.
